All of us have disobeyed, but in God’s eyes, followers of Christ are “not guilty.” (See Romans 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.).Redeemed. We are no longer held in bondage to sin, because Jesus paid the penalty we owed (1 Peter 1:18-19 - knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ).Chosen. God chose us from the beginning to belong to Him (2 Thessalonians 2:13 - But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth), even though we do not deserve His kindness.In other words, He left behind His divinity and took on the limitations of humanity-all for our benefit. In all wisdom and insightĢ Corinthians 8:9 tells us that Jesus became poor in order that we might have the riches of grace. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.
In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.
